HEENBOVOTIYA
Heenbovitiya is a rare and naturally wild-grown plant that is endemic to Sri Lanka. It is small evergreen tree of Melastomataceae family which is one to two meters tall. Dark green leaves with beautiful purple flowers about 5 – 8 cm wide with a yellow middle give it an value in the home garden as an ornamental plant. However it is grown close to water streams, woodlands, small and large forest in wet land of Sri Lanka.
