A variety of the butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea), this fast-growing vine is known for its striking blue to purple, pea-shaped flowers and its adaptability to home gardens, scrublands, and secondary forests. The plant’s lush green foliage and vivid blooms not only add ornamental value but also serve practical purposes. Its flowers are widely used to brew herbal tea and as a natural food coloring. Nil Katarolu also holds a valued place in traditional medicine, believed to offer calming, anti-inflammatory, and memory-enhancing properties.
