Thebu Leaves

The Thebu plant, scientifically known as Costus speciosus, is a striking member of the ginger family, valued for both its medicinal uses and ornamental beauty. Native to tropical regions, including Sri Lanka, the plant is easily recognized by its spirally arranged, broadly elliptic leaves and red-colored stems. It produces vibrant yellow to orange flowers, often framed by waxy red bracts, which add to its visual appeal in gardens and natural landscapes. The Thebu plant typically grows up to one meter in height and spreads through rhizomes, its underground stems, which aid in propagation.
